A famous Chinese archaeologist Mr. Wu Jinding found a kind of unearthed pre-historical object, which he had never seen when he engaged in archaeological studies in Long Shane Town Zhang Qui County Shane Dong Province in 1928. The object was as thin as eggshell with dark luster. It was the black pottery, which was the representative work of primitive culture in the middle reaches of Yellow River. Because of this discovery, archaeological academic circles gave a name of Long Shan Culture to the Black Pottery Culture as its relic was first excavated there. Long Shan Culture mainly distributed over ShanXi, HeNan, ShanXi and ShanDong provinces.

It puzzled scholars when the black pottery emerged after the color pottery. It was an unusual phenomenon. As the development of in-depth archaeological studies, they are amazed at the complicated and advanced technics of the Black Pottery Arts, and admired at primitive culture. 61years later, the technics of the Black Pottery Arts was eventually discovered in 1989 through the continued studies by the scholars of several generations. At that time their ancestor had grasp the advanced technics of "sealing kiln". They utilized the theory of fumigating smoke and infiltrating carbon to bake black pottery. They made dense smoke in the kiln and let carbon infiltrate into semi-finished product then it presented black color. The technics of the Black Pottery Arts showed us the process of fumigating pottery.
