| Qiao Family Mansion |
This ancient mansion is the residence of the famous Shanxi Merchant, Qiao Zhiyong. It gained its fame home and abroad due to the movie "the Red Lanterns" by the director Zhang Yimu.
The mansion occupies an area of 8,000 square metres and has six major courtyards and 19minor ones, with 313 rooms. From Apavilion on the south-western corner cimmands a panoramic view over the entire estate. From this vantage point it becomes clear that the mansion is laid out in the shape of the Chinese character Xi(happiness).
