Day 1, BEIJING Arrival day, Be met and transferred to hotel.
Day 2, BEIJING Today we visit the Summer Palace. Free afternoon ( recommend you to visit the Hutong Tour/Temple of Heaven).
Day 3, BEIJING, GREAT WALL A day at the Great Wall, with a hike along one of the less visited sections.
The Great Wall of China is the longest structure ever built. It is about 4,000 miles long, and it was built entirely by hand. About 1, 200 - 1, 500 miles of the Great Wall were built during the reign of Emperor Shi Huangdi (Qin Dynasty). The Great Wall crosses northern China from the east coast to the c entral part of China.
Day 4, BEIJING Visit Tiananmen Square and the magnificent Forbidden City. Overnight train to Xi'an.
TianAnMen Square, the symbolical heart of China and gathering place for the masses. It is the biggest public square in the world, which can hold one million people. Having a free walk there, imagining the great historic events of the 20th century took place there. You will also see legendary landmarks including the Great Hall of the People and the towering 125 foot granite obelisk, Monument to the Peoples Heroes, honoring those who died in revolution.
Walking across the Golden River Bridge, enter the Forbidden City, the inner sanctum and palace where for centuries Chinese emperors ruled their world. It has 9000-room maze of courtyards, places, and ceremonial halls, where 24 emper ors used to live. Forbidden City was indeed a forbidden place, where commoners were kept out for nearly 500 years in the past. Tour the palace and imagine the mystery, intrigue and incredible power that reigned here.
Day 5, XI'AN Visit the famous Terracotta Warriors. Free afternoon.
The Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses: The greatest archaeological findings of the century: the army of terra-cotta warriors and the bronze chariots entombed in vast underground vaults at emperor Qin's tomb.
Day 6, XI'AN Free morning to explore Xi'an, recommend you to visit Big Wild Goose Pagoda/ City Wall. Overnight train to Yichang.
Day 7, YICHANG Morning arrival in Yichang and transfer to our cruise boat. (LD)
Days 8-9, YANGTSE RIVER CRUISE
Li River Cruise: We cruise up the Yangtse River, passing through the spectacular Three Gorges section. We stop for excursions along the way. (BLD)
Day 10, CHONGQING - YANGSHUO Disembark in Chongqing and take a flight to Guilin. A short bus ride takes us to Yangshuo.
Yangshuo, the natural scenery features unique karst hills, crystal water, exquisite stones and intricate caves as well as a cultural historic heritage and folks of diverse customs. At night, have fun on the West Street, don't drink too much to miss tomorrow's program. Or you can go to watch the envening show - Impression Liu Sanjie. The Cormorant fishing show at night is also something new (optional).
Day 11, YANGSHUO We have a full day to explore. Hiring a bike is easy and probably the best way to discover the countryside with its delightful mountains, villages and people. Recommend you to Climb Moon Hill, water rafting by bamboo boat on Yulong River.
Day 12, YANGSHUO - KUNMING A free morning - a good opportunity to take a lesson in Chinese cooking, calligraphy or tai'chi. Later in the day we fly to Kunming, the city of eternal spring.
Day 13, KUNMING A full free day to explore Kunming. Perhaps head up into the hills to the Bamboo Temple. Overnight train to Dali.
Day 14, DALI Morning arrival and transfer to the old town, home of the Bai people. The rest of the day is free to explore. In the evening there is the chance to see traditional cormorant fishing on Erhai Lake.
Day 15, DALI A free day to sample the delights of Dali - it is an ideal place to explore by bike or you can take a short horse trek into the mountains behind the town. Option to visit the colourful Shaping markets.
Day 16, DALI - TIGER LEAPING GORGE TREK A bus journey takes us to Qiaotou, the start of our trek through Tiger Leaping
The Tiger Leaping Gorge: one of the world's four great gorges - is located in Hutiaoxia Town in Zhongdian County,is honored as one of the deepest and most marvelous gorges on the globe.
Day 17, TIGER LEAPING GORGE TREK Trek through this impressive gorge with superb views of Jade Dragon Mountain.
Day 18, TIGER LEAPING GORGE - LIJIANG We complete our trek and transfer to Lijiang, a gorgeous old town.
Lijiang which has a large Naxi settlement first built about 8 centuries ago; you'll have a chance to hear Naxi ancient music, feel their rich culture and tradition, see their costume, house; Walk through Lijiang ancient town in the afternoon, enjoy ancient Naxi Music concert performed by Xuanke and his musician tonight.
Day 19, LIJIANG Full free day to explore Lijiang, home of the Naxi minority group.
Day 20, LIJIANG ¨C CHENGDU Fly from Lijiang to Chengdu.
Day 21, CHENGDU Visit the panda centre. In the evening we have a chance to see a Chinese opera.
Day 22, LESHAN A day excursion to Leshan where we visit the Giant Buddha.
Day 23, LHASA A spectacular flight to Lhasa.
Days 24-26, LHASA Guided excursions to the Potala Palace, Sera and Drepung Monasteries, Jokhang Temple and Norbulingka (the summer palace). We have also allowed some free time for your own exploration of this delightful city.
Day 27, KATHMANDU A magnificent flight across the Himalayas. Transfer to the hotel.
Day 28, KATHMANDU Tour ends. |
