Itinerary:

Day 1 Arrival / Beijing
On arrival at Beijing airport, railway station or long distance bus terminal, the local representative will meet you for your transfer to the hotel.   Leisure on your own for the rest of the day.  You may go to TianAnMen Square by yourself to strong around the biggest square in the world, a close touch to ordinary Chinese people.

 

Day 2 (B, L, D)
Beijing
Visit Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven, enjoy Beijing Roasted Duck for dinner.

The Temple of Heaven, founded in the first half of the 15th century, is a dignified complex of fine cult buildings set in gardens and surrounded by historic pine woods. In its overall layout and that of its individual buildings, it symbolizes the relationship between earth and heaven the human world and God's world which stands at the heart of Chinese cosmogony, and also the special role played by the emperors within that relationship.

 

Day 3 (B, L, D)
Beijing
Visit Lhama Temple, the Hutongs by rickshaw and Xiushui Street.

 

A visit to Lhama Temple (Yonghegong). It is a renowned lama (Lhama) temple of the Yellow Hat Sect of Lamaism, is situated in the northeast part of Beijing city. Lama Temple, or Yanghegong, has a long and varied history. It was originally built in 1694 and originally used as official residence for court eunuchs of the Ming dynasty and was converted to the royal court of Prince Yongzheng(Yin Zhen) a son of Emperor Kang Xi of the Qing Dynasty.

 

A jaunt down the intricate maze of Beijing's hutongs:  The old narrow paths where common people lived. All the Hutongs crisscross with each other, dotted with the Kindergarten, the Bell Tower, the Drum Tower, the Tea House, the lake, House of Gong Infante and local people's houses among them.

 

You will be taken by pedicab (a tricycle cab), which was very popular in the old days to visit the Bell and Drum Towers, Prince Gong's Mansion and even to pay a visit to an ordinary Beijing family in the compound houses. You will visit a Chinese family to learn how to make Jiaozi - Chinese Dumplin.

 

Jiaozi looks like shoe-shaped gold and silver ingots so when people eat it during festivals they really hope it could bring fortune and good luck to them, and this, of course, is their best wishes. Sometimes people will add some sweets, Chinese dates and chestnuts in fillings of some dumplings to express their wishes...

Xiushui Street: A market near the embassy area where you can find a number of duplicates of clothing in traditional Chinese style such as clothes, caps, gloves. Enjoy bargains with sellers and pleasant surprise of finding a real treasure if you are lucky enough.

 

Day 4 (B, L, D)
Beijing / Chengde
Drive to Chengde to visit the Chengde Mountain Resort. On the way, visit the Great Wall at Jinshanling section.

 

The Great Wall at the Jinshanling is located at the boundary between Miyun County, Beijing and Luanping County, Hebei province. It has been a strategic place contested by militarists since ancient times. The 25-kilometer-long Jinshan Ridge section has as many as 150 watchtowers and battlements,terraces and turrets. Architecturally, there are towers of various shapes--square, circular, oblate and cornered, and roofs of different strctures --flat and vaulted.

 

The Chengde Mountain Resort: One of China's leading scenic spots and the world's largest imperial garden, which served as the summer resort for emperors of the Qing Dynasty. 

 

Day 5 (B, L)
Chengde / Beijing
Visit the Puning Temple and the Temple of the Potaraka Doctrine. Be transferred to Beijing.

 

Puning Temple: Built in 1755, it is famous for the world's largest woodcarving Buddha is in the temple.

 

Temple of the Potaraka Doctrine: Also called the Little Potala Temple, it was built for celebrating the emperor Qianlong's birthday.

 

Day 6 (B, L)
Beijing / Depart
Free at leisure until to be transferred to the airport for return flight.
