Wuzhen Overview

Wuzhen has been included by UNESCO in the reserve list of world cultural heritages.  It has a history of more than 1,000 years. Over 80% of the ancient residential houses, workshops, and stores still standing on the banks of the rivers have remained unchanged, lending an atmosphere of antiquity.

 

Tradition is still very much alive in Wuzhen. In addition to flower-drum opera, shadow-puppet shows, and temple fairs, Wuzhen also attracts visitors with its time-honoured art of making indigo-dyed printed calico. In ancient times, indigo-dyed printed calico was used for curtains, scarves, and tablecloths in every household in the countryside of Zhejiang Province.

Today's Activities:
Our English speaking tour guide will hold a welcome sign to meet you at Hangzhou Airport or train station, then transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day is on your own to explore Hangzhou. Visit the the Lingyin Temple and the Six Harmony Pagoda, cruise on West Lake.

Day 2  Hangzhou (B,L)
Today's Activities:
Today we will drive to Wuzhen Town, to visit the Wuzhen Water Village (about 50 minutes driving). After finishing our visiting, transferred back to Hangzhou.
Wuzhen Town Wuzhen is a small town with the history of 1200 years, with its black tiled, tung oil painted timber framework houses, that contrast sharply with its white walls and gray flagging, brings to mind a Chinese ink and wash painting.

Today's Activities:
Morning is at your leisure till transferred to Hangzhou airport for your flight to your next destination. If your departure flight is in the late afternoon, you might have more free time to do something by yourself. Recommend you to visit famous Dragonwell Tea Village near Hangzhou. (optional)
